Team work, collaboration and sharing goals
Bring your team or music staff together to strengthen the department's vision for your school or organisation. Share common goals and develop ideas for the short, medium and long long term, uniting your staff in the goal setting.
This session will hep staff consider the experience of the student in the planning and how to involve students of all abilities and backgrounds in the music program - so that everyone can feel part of the vibrant music community at your school or organisation.
Best practice teaching models and approaches on incorporating and balancing student-centred learning and explicit instruction into the instrumental class will be explored.
Discussion and activities can include:
* The use of repertoire and playing 'beyond' the notes
* Culturally responsive pedagogy
* Activities to support diverse learning
* Making music accessible
* Team curriculum building
* Reframing ensemble goals
* Including diverse learning and teaching styles into our practice
These sessions will also include practical activities from Karen's books Strings Together and Band Together.
