The land we know as the Republic of Turkey is surrounded by three external seas; the Black Sea, the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. Turkey’s geographical position links Europe to Asia, providing a long history of trade routes between the two continents.

The stories of Turkey excite us with exotic tales, including The Trojan war, the legend of King Midas, the reign of Alexander the Great, the marriage of Antony and Cleopatra, and the rise and collapse of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. In more recent history, events including the Crimean war, the Gallipoli campaign, and the formation of the new republic under Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, has ensured Turkey remains a place of rich historic interest across the globe.
