In A Piece Publishing was formed in 2004 by Karen Kyriakou, an educator, facilitator, violinist, and composer/arranger. Her work is underpinned by her passion for music’s unique capacity to unite and inspire. IAPP is committed to creating high quality resources for both teachers and students, and is the process of developing a series of Teacher Resource books; Strings Together is currently released.
With over 25 years experience in the field, Karen is renowned for her ever-innovative approach to music education. She is in demand as a presenter and workshop facilitator with many of Australia’s leading arts organisations, and delivers professional learning seminars to teachers of all levels of skill and experience. Driven by her special interest in supporting young people to achieve beyond their expectations, Karen is a long-time Artist in Residence in schools for children with additional needs. A staunch advocate of lifelong learning, Karen teaches from early learning to tertiary levels and presents at industry conferences, championing creative music making and inclusive music education.
Karen Kyriakou currently works with several large arts organisations and tertiary institutions. She consults on Education Programs, Outreach Programs and Performances, 'Special Needs' and 'Sensory Performances', advises independent artists wishing to develop their skills working in the community and educational settings, amongst other education and professional development work.
